What drives us
Ed and Phil have experienced firsthand the benefits that a fit and healthy lifestyle can bring. We want to share our knowledge and experience with others.

People
‘Ed’ is Edward Chapman, in his 50s, living in Cornwall and married with two daughters. ‘Phil’ is Phillip Howells, early 60s, living in Herefordshire and widowed. Our little joke on ourselves is that Edward is certainly not an ‘Ed’ in day-to-day life and Phillip is not really a ‘Phil’.

Both Edward and Phillip are good, strong names, but somehow, in combination, calling ourselves ‘Edward & Phillip Publishing’, seemed not to work, as well as sounding, shall we say, a little too ‘effete’ for our liking. So ‘Ed & Phil’ it was!

Ed (sometimes referred to as ‘Steady Eddie’)

Ed, a big man with a big heart came late to running, but is a passionate convert. He finds it hard to keep the weight down, but is mentally tough as nails - ‘when the going gets tough, the tough get going’ was written for him! Not out to break world records, but just keeps going, and going …… and going! (He’s a trained accountant, so he loves the big mile numbers.) Ed is always looking for the next running challenge, the more exotic the better, and he is committed to helping and encouraging runners to get ‘off road’ – hence his other business, ‘Run the Country’. He is also a trained triathlon coach, with fitness aspects of nutrition forming part of the training.

Phil (also know as ‘pb’ Howells)

An enthusiastic ‘Peter Pan’, he’s rather older than he looks! He was an experienced runner in his younger days, but made a comeback in his 50s and is an athletic renaissance man, fitter, leaner and more dedicated than ever before. He is still targeting to better the personal bests (pbs) of his youth and has done so several times, but his long-term aim is lifestyle, fitness and energy. He is grittily ‘determined’; it’s his middle name! Phil is keen to help others get equally fit and healthy to make more of their lives and, if that is their ambition, to achieve performances and experiences they currently only dream of. He is a fully qualified UK Athletics Level 2 Coach and has a BTEC qualification in sport and fitness. Nutrition formed an important part of the training for both of these qualifications.
